The Champlain Valley
Transportation Museum, CVTM, was founded
in 2000 by a group of Plattsburgh area
car and history enthusiasts. Originally
designed to be a car museum, featuring
the Lozier Automobile Company's history,
CVTM has grown to cover all forms of
transportation in the area. CVTM
explores and interprets the rich history
of transportation in the Champlain
Valley. From the earliest native
American handmade canoes through the
manufacturing of modern rail cars,
Plattsburgh and the Champlain Valley
have seen every major form of
transportation. Whether it is the
history of barges and steam ferries on
Lake Champlain, the D & H rail
lines, or military transportation, CVTM
will examine and celebrate all things
that transport.

Step back in time aboard the replica 1820 sail ferry "Weatherwax". Hear the legacy of these historic waters as you voyage to Crab Island. Once there, you can explore until the last boat leaves. Feel free to bring refreshments.
On Sundays the Weatherwax sails from Peru for service to Valcour Island. Enjoy the view and the display in the historic lighthouse that guided marine trade on Lake Champlain for many years.
The Weatherwax is the perfect vessel for making memorable company parties, family get-togethers, fishing trips, class field trips and is available for charter! Call (518) 566-7575 for more information.
